On September 5, 2024, Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh launched VisioNxt, India’s first fashion forecasting initiative, developed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). This bilingual platform aims to enhance India’s fashion industry by providing AI-driven insights to support local designers and businesses. The initiative includes the Paridhi 24×25 trend book and aims to reduce reliance on global forecasting agencies while promoting indigenous design.

Empowering Indian Fashion

VisioNxt aims to identify geo-specific fashion trends using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI). The initiative is designed to elevate Indian culture and design globally, offering insights that support weavers, manufacturers, and retailers. Minister Singh emphasized that this project reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India, fostering healthy competition in the global market.

Background and Development

Launched as a response to the Global Textile Summit in 2017, VisioNxt has evolved through extensive research and collaboration with over 800 trendspotters across India. Its unique prediction model, DeepVision, analyses vast datasets to decode fashion trends specific to Indian consumers. This initiative not only reduces dependency on foreign agencies but also integrates India’s technological strengths into the fashion sector.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The launch of VisioNxt represents a significant step towards empowering local talent and promoting cultural diversity in fashion. By harnessing technology for indigenous insights, we can foster innovation and creativity in the industry. How do you think initiatives like VisioNxt can shape the future of Indian fashion?
