Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was targeted in a firing incident near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu on Sunday evening, October 18, after he left a football match. Three motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire at his BMW, with police reporting five rounds fired. Shroff escaped without a gunshot injury, although he suffered minor injuries from gunpowder and glass.

His driver Firdosh sustained a bullet injury to his left hand, while another person near the vehicle was also injured. Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams to identify and arrest the attackers, while CCTV footage and forensic evidence are being examined. An online post purportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility, but investigators are yet to independently establish its authenticity or the gang’s involvement.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has met Shroff and assured his family that the government would not tolerate threats against public figures.

Attack Near Park

The incident occurred at around 7 pm as Shroff was returning home after playing football. Police suspect the attackers may have known about his regular Sunday routine and waited outside the park. CCTV footage has reportedly captured two suspected shooters, while investigators are tracing their movements after they allegedly fled on a motorcycle. The motorcycle was later found abandoned near Andheri West railway station.

Police and forensic teams have examined the crime scene, collected evidence and questioned eyewitnesses. The actor was taken for medical attention, while his injured driver and another injured person were also admitted to hospital. Shroff was later seen at his residence with bandages, with Shinde saying he had injuries to his hand caused by gunpowder and broken glass.

Gang Claim Probed

The shooting has taken on a wider dimension after a social media post and an audio message surfaced claiming responsibility in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Two alleged operatives, Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, have been named in connection with the claim. The purported message reportedly linked the attack to Shroff’s association with actor Salman Khan and issued further warnings to people associated with him.

However, police have not yet conclusively established whether the claim is genuine or whether the Bishnoi gang was behind the shooting. Investigators are examining whether the incident bears similarities to previous attacks and threats associated with organised crime. Police are also looking at possible routes by road, rail and air to trace the suspects.

Police Launch Manhunt

Mumbai Police have deployed 15 teams to investigate the firing and identify those responsible. The probe is examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts and the suspected escape route. Officials are also investigating whether the attackers had conducted reconnaissance before the incident.

Police sources said there was no previous complaint on record from Shroff regarding threat calls, adding another layer to the investigation into why he was targeted. The case has also raised concerns because the shooting took place in a populated part of Juhu, close to a police station, during a busy Sunday evening.

Government Promises Action

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his residence after the incident and said the attack was condemnable. He said Shroff and his mother were shaken and assured the family of the state government’s support. Shinde warned that no gang or individual would be allowed to revive a culture of fear and gang warfare in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke to Shroff and directed the police to conduct a detailed investigation. Minister Ashish Shelar said he had spoken with Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and confirmed that senior police officials were overseeing the probe.

A Larger Security Concern

The incident has renewed concerns over the security of public figures and the broader law-and-order situation in Mumbai. It also comes against the backdrop of previous attacks and threats involving prominent figures in the Hindi film industry, including the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence.

However, investigators have yet to establish a confirmed motive in Shroff’s case, and the alleged Bishnoi gang connection remains under investigation. Public discussion around the incident therefore needs to distinguish verified facts from online claims, particularly while the police investigation is still underway.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Gun violence has no place in a city where millions of people live, work and move through public spaces every day. Whether the attack was motivated by organised crime, personal rivalry or another reason, intimidation and violence cannot be allowed to become tools for settling disputes or sending messages.

The focus must remain on a transparent investigation, accountability based on evidence and ensuring that ordinary citizens as well as public figures can feel safe. At a time when unverified claims can spread within minutes, how can we encourage responsible conversations while demanding stronger action against violence and organised crime?
