Shravani Krishnakant Kudale from Baramati, Maharashtra, has emerged as the top girl scorer in NEET-UG 2026, securing 710 out of 720 marks and an All India Rank (AIR) of 5. She also became the Maharashtra topper in the revised NEET-UG examination. Shravani achieved this milestone after the original examination was cancelled following a paper leak controversy. Instead of letting the uncertainty affect her preparation, the 18-year-old viewed the retest as another opportunity to improve her performance. Her achievement has brought pride to Baramati, with teachers, leaders, and well-wishers congratulating her for her remarkable success.
From Exam Cancellation To NEET-UG Success: Shravani’s Positive Approach Paid Off
The NEET-UG examination that Shravani had spent nearly two years preparing for was cancelled following allegations surrounding a paper leak, creating uncertainty among thousands of medical aspirants. However, instead of being discouraged, the Baramati student chose to focus on the opportunity presented by the retest.
“Instead of negative feelings, I decided to look at things positively. I started thinking that I was getting another chance to appear for NEET, with additional days to prepare which could help me improve my score,” Shravani said.
Her positive outlook helped her navigate one of the most stressful phases of her preparation. In the revised examination, she secured 710 out of 720 marks, becoming the country’s highest-ranked female candidate and Maharashtra’s topper.
The daughter of two Zilla Parishad school teachers from Baramati, Shravani studied in a government school before beginning her preparation for NEET at a local coaching institute. Her achievement has also highlighted how students from smaller towns can compete successfully at the national level with determination and consistent effort.

Self-Study, Discipline And Concept-Based Learning Behind Her Achievement
Shravani’s journey towards becoming NEET-UG 2026’s top female scorer was shaped by years of disciplined preparation and a strong focus on understanding concepts. A student who always wanted to pursue a career related to biology, she drew inspiration from her elder sister, who is currently pursuing BAMS at the Government Medical College in Satara.
During her preparation, Shravani focused on balancing coaching and independent study. She spent around six hours daily on self-study after attending nearly seven hours of coaching classes. She believes that understanding concepts instead of simply memorising textbooks played a crucial role in her performance.
Sharing advice for other NEET aspirants, Shravani emphasised the importance of consistency and regular preparation rather than relying on last-minute efforts. She said her goal was always to score well enough to secure admission to a government medical college, but becoming the country’s top-ranked female candidate was an unexpected achievement.
With her score and rank, Shravani is now confident about securing admission to the MBBS programme at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.
A Family That Prioritised Education And Independent Learning
Shravani credits her parents, both government school teachers, for creating an environment where education and self-discipline were always encouraged. She said that self-study and understanding concepts had been an important part of her learning journey since childhood because of her parents’ guidance.
Her parents ensured that education remained a priority, while also encouraging their children to develop independent learning habits. Over time, studying became a routine rather than a task, helping Shravani build the discipline required for competitive examinations.
Her success story comes at a time when students across India continue to face intense competition for medical seats through NEET-UG. Her journey reflects the role of resilience, family support, and consistent preparation in achieving academic goals.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective
Shravani Kudale’s journey is a reminder that setbacks can also become opportunities when approached with resilience and a positive mindset. Her ability to remain focused after the cancellation of the initial NEET-UG examination shows the importance of emotional strength alongside academic preparation.
While celebrating individual achievements, it is equally important to ensure that every student has access to quality education, guidance, and resources to pursue their ambitions. Stories like Shravani’s inspire young learners, but they also encourage society to build a more supportive and inclusive education system. How can we create better opportunities for students from every background to achieve their dreams?
