A 27-year-old man from Tripura, identified as Tapan Nath, was found dead in his rented accommodation in Ejipura, Bengaluru, on Sunday night, July 12, after his family and friends alleged that he had been battling severe emotional distress following injuries sustained during an alleged assault months earlier.
Nath, who worked at a craft beer and international bar in Koramangala, reportedly failed to report for work that day. Police said his roommate found him hanging in the room at around 11.30 pm. Preliminary inquiries suggested that Nath had allegedly suffered serious injuries to his private parts during a fight with friends at a party three to four months ago.
His family claimed that doctors later informed him that the injuries could affect his ability to father children, which reportedly pushed him into depression. Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Nath’s family and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
A senior police officer said the claims regarding his medical condition and the alleged assault were yet to be verified and that investigators would contact the doctor who treated him to establish the facts.

Tapan Nath, a native of Tripura, was working at a craft beer and international bar in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area, where he was reportedly employed in the beer manufacturing unit. He lived in a rented room in Ejipura along with other staff members of the establishment.
According to police officials, Nath did not report for work on Sunday. Later that night, at around 11.30 pm, one of his roommates returned to the accommodation and found him hanging inside the room. The incident was immediately reported, following which personnel from Viveknagar Police Station reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
A case was registered after Nath’s family approached the police with a complaint. During the initial inquiry, investigators gathered information from his friends and brother regarding the events that allegedly took place months before his death.
According to the statements provided by his family members and acquaintances, Nath had attended a party with friends around three to four months ago.
