According to district officials, the controversy at a PM SHRI Vidyalaya in Jalal Sarai, Sambhal, initially emerged after videos and photographs circulated online, allegedly showing students participating in religious expressions within school premises. Following public complaints and social media attention, the education department conducted a surprise inspection, which led to immediate administrative action.

Principal Mohammad Anzar Ahmad and assistant teacher Mohammad Gul Ejaz have been booked following allegations that religious practices were being informally encouraged within classrooms, including students wearing religious attire during school hours. Officials said the FIR was registered at Nakhasa police station after preliminary findings pointed to possible deviations from expected school conduct standards.

A senior district official, speaking to PTI, confirmed that a three-member inquiry committee under the Chief Development Officer has been formed. The panel will not only examine the role of the two accused teachers but also assess whether proper monitoring mechanisms were in place within the institution. Both educators have been suspended pending investigation.

At the time of reporting, neither of the accused teachers has issued a public statement. Authorities have urged restraint, stating that conclusions will only be drawn after the inquiry is completed.
