A 30-year-old man, identified as Neeraj, was tragically stabbed to death by his 20-year-old brother-in-law, Ramesh, following a heated family dispute in Northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri area on the night of March 29, 2026. The altercation, which reportedly began over domestic issues involving the victim’s alleged harassment of his wife, escalated into a physical assault.
Neeraj was rushed to GTB Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Monday. Delhi Police have arrested the accused, recovered the murder weapon, and upgraded the initial charge to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A Fatal Escalation Of Domestic Strife
The incident unfolded in the Tahirpur locality when a verbal spat between the two men turned violent. According to police officials, the accused, Ramesh, claimed he acted in a “fit of rage” to protect his sister.
Reports suggest that Neeraj, who was allegedly unemployed and struggled with alcohol addiction, frequently harassed and physically assaulted his pregnant wife.
This had prompted her family to bring her back to her parental home for safety. However, when Neeraj arrived at the residence on Sunday night and a fresh argument ensued, Ramesh allegedly attacked him with a kitchen knife. “A police team rushed to the hospital where the victim informed us his brother-in-law had stabbed him,” a senior officer stated, noting that the case was converted to murder once the victim passed away.
