UP Horror: Two Uncles Allegedly Rape Teenage Niece And Sell Her Sixteen-Year-Old Sister For Money

Following their mother's murder and father's arrest, two minor sisters were allegedly exploited by their maternal uncles, leading to the trafficking of one and the sexual assault of the other.

In a harrowing case of familial betrayal, the Pilibhit police in Uttar Pradesh have registered a case against two men for allegedly raping their 17-year-old niece and selling her 16-year-old sister. The two girls were left in the care of their maternal uncles following the murder of their mother last year and the subsequent imprisonment of their father.

According to the survivor’s complaint, one uncle committed the assault while the other stood guard, and they later trafficked the younger sister for money. While the older girl managed to escape and seek legal help after months of silence, the whereabouts of her 16-year-old sister remain unknown. Local authorities have initiated a search for the missing minor and are awaiting the survivor’s court statement to proceed with further legal action.

A Cycle Of Abuse And Coercion

The nightmare reportedly began during the sisters’ school summer vacation in June 2023. Their stay at their maternal uncles’ home in a village under the Barkhera police station turned permanent after their mother was murdered on July 3, and their father was arrested for the crime.

Exploiting their guardianship, the uncles allegedly orchestrated a deal to sell the younger sister in September. “I overheard them talking on the phone about a monetary deal after that, I could not find out where my sister was,” the survivor stated in her written complaint.

The elder sister further alleged that she was raped in March 2024 and was later coerced at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office to record a video statement claiming she was returning home of her own free will. She revealed that the men threatened to kill her missing sister if she did not comply with their demands.

Justice Delayed By Despair

The legal process began only after the 17-year-old survivor overcame immense pressure and a lack of support from other relatives to file a formal complaint last Friday. Barkhera Station House Officer (SHO) Pramendra Kumar confirmed that an FIR has been lodged, noting a complex layer to the case: one of the accused maternal uncles was actually the original complainant against the girls’ father in the mother’s murder case.

“We are now waiting for her court statements for further legal action,” Kumar said, adding that the police are currently verifying the survivor’s age through educational documents.

If she is confirmed to be a minor, charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act will be added to the FIR. Meanwhile, investigators are questioning the two accused to trace the 16-year-old who remains missing.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This case is a gut-wrenching reminder of how the very people entrusted with the protection of the vulnerable can become their predators. When children lose their parents to violence, they deserve a sanctuary of healing and kindness; instead, these sisters were allegedly treated as commodities in a cycle of systemic cruelty.

We at The Logical Indian believe that a society’s progress is measured by how it guards its children, especially those rendered voiceless by tragedy.

This incident highlights an urgent need for more robust community-based monitoring for children in distress and a swifter response from law enforcement when a minor goes missing. We must foster a culture where survivors feel safe to speak out without fear of further exploitation or being silenced by those in power.
