In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, a 38-year-old man identified as Rashid allegedly shot dead his wife, Shabnam and his friend, Faheem Ansari, at their home in Tronica City’s Rampark Colony on March 24. Police said the accused suspected an extramarital relationship and had reportedly planned the attack, inviting the friend over for dinner before opening fire.

The incident unfolded in the presence of family members, including a minor child, intensifying its emotional impact. Rashid has been booked under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and investigations are underway, with forensic and witness evidence being examined.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to police officials, the accused allegedly called his friend to the house on the pretext of a meal, where the three reportedly ate and spent time together before an argument escalated. Investigators believe Rashid confronted the two over a suspected affair, which had allegedly been ongoing for some time, before shooting them with a country-made pistol. Both victims were rushed to hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Officials confirmed that the weapon has been recovered and the bodies sent for post-mortem examination. A senior officer stated that the accused appeared to have acted in anger but may have also planned the act, as he was armed beforehand. The chilling nature of the crime has drawn attention, particularly as family members, including children, were present in the house at the time.

Family Accounts and Ongoing Investigation

Police sources said that statements from family members and neighbours are helping piece together the sequence of events. Children in the household reportedly told investigators that disputes between their parents had intensified in recent days, with claims that Shabnam intended to separate and move out. The accused and the deceased man were known to each other for several years, adding complexity to the case. Authorities are continuing to verify the nature of relationships and motives involved, while also assessing the welfare of the children left behind. The incident has left the local community in shock, with concerns raised about the psychological impact on those who witnessed or were close to the violence.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This deeply distressing case underscores how suspicion, emotional distress, and unresolved conflict can spiral into irreversible violence, devastating entire families, especially children who are left to cope with trauma and loss. While the legal process will determine accountability, it is equally important to address the social and emotional dimensions that often remain overlooked, including access to counselling, conflict resolution and mental health support. Violence can never be a solution to personal grievances, no matter how intense.
