In a distressing incident from Telangana, the Nagarkurnool police have detained a 17-year-old Intermediate student for the alleged serial sexual assault of three minor girls. The accused reportedly lured the survivors under the pretext of love, filmed the acts, and used the footage to blackmail them for money.

The matter escalated when one of the survivors became pregnant, leading the accused and his 22-year-old friend to facilitate an illegal abortion at a private hospital. Following a police investigation triggered by a survivor’s confession to her parents, authorities have arrested the friend, two doctors, and a nurse involved in the illicit medical procedure.

The teenage accused has been sent to a juvenile reform home while the medical professionals face legal action for violating the POCSO Act and the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.

Blackmail and Systemic Failure

The investigation revealed a harrowing pattern of exploitation that spanned several months in 2025. According to Nagarkurnool SP Sangram Singh G Patil, the accused targeted one girl from his own college and two from others. Beyond the physical assault, the teenager allegedly used “voyeuristic digital content” to trap the victims, threatening to leak videos to their families if they didn’t meet his financial demands.

The illegal abortion took place at a local private facility in Kollapur, where hospital staff allegedly bypassed all legal protocols for treating a minor. DSP Srinivas Yadav stated, “We have retrieved videos of the assault on one survivor from the accused’s phone and seized records from the hospital. Further investigation is underway to ensure all perpetrators, including the medical staff who facilitated this crime, are held accountable.”

Legal Repercussions and Safety Gaps

The accused faces a barrage of charges under Sections 64 (1) (rape), 87 (kidnapping), and 77 (voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside stringent provisions of the POCSO Act and the IT Act. This case highlights a dangerous intersection of juvenile delinquency and professional malpractice.

The arrest of the two doctors and a nurse underscores a critical lapse in medical ethics, where a private healthcare institution allegedly chose profit or secrecy over the mandatory reporting of minor pregnancies.

The survivors are currently receiving counseling as the police work to recover any remaining digital evidence to prevent the further circulation of sensitive content.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This case is a sobering reminder of the urgent need for comprehensive sex education and digital literacy among our youth. It is heartbreaking that children feel so cornered by the threat of “social shame” that they endure months of torment in silence.

We must foster an environment where survivors feel safe to speak out without the fear of being judged or blackmailed. Furthermore, the involvement of medical professionals in covering up a crime against a minor is a gross betrayal of the ‘Healer’s Oath.’

True social change requires us to protect the most vulnerable and ensure that “honor” is never valued more than a child’s safety and well-being.
