On September 4, 2025, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed outside a school gate in Paharganj, central Delhi, by three minors, reportedly in an act of revenge. The victim arrived at the nearby police station with a knife lodged in his chest and was immediately taken to Kalawati Saran Hospital, followed by transfer to RML Hospital for critical care.

Police swiftly arrested the three accused, aged 15 and 16, and recovered the weapon and a broken beer bottle used during the assault. The investigation continues under charges registered at Paharganj police station.

The Incident and Police Actions

Deputy Commissioner of Police Nidhin Valsan detailed how the three minors waited near the school gate, confronting and attacking the victim after school hours. “One of them stabbed the victim with a knife while the other two restrained him. One made a threat with a broken beer bottle,” Valsan said.

Despite severe injury, the victim managed to reach the police station, where an FIR was registered, and emergency medical aid was provided. Police formed a special team which, with local intelligence and rapid raids, arrested the accused minors from the nearby Aram Bagh area within hours.

Motive and Background

Police investigations uncovered that one of the accused had been assaulted about two weeks prior and suspected the victim had incited the attack. Acting on this grievance, he planned the retaliatory assault with two accomplices.

This event reflects a concerning pattern of retaliative youth violence around Delhi’s educational institutions. The incident spotlights the urgent need to strengthen safety and supervision measures near such vulnerable public spaces.

Rising Incidents of School Stabbings in India

This tragic case is one of several recent incidents across India where youth violence near schools has escalated dangerously. Earlier this year, a 14-year-old student was fatally stabbed outside his school in East Delhi following a dispute with classmates.

Other cities have reported similar outbreaks of aggression involving minors resorting to knives or sharp objects as weapons. These recurring cases underline the urgent requirement for schools, parents, and law enforcement to collaborate closely in fostering safer environments for students, promoting non-violent conflict resolution, and implementing preventive education to address behavioural issues early.

In August 2025, a Class 10 student in Ahmedabad was fatally stabbed by a Class 8 student with a sharp lab tool near their school gate, sparking outrage over school safety and response delays. Last year, a similar stabbing incident occurred in Udaipur, raising awareness about the urgent need for conflict resolution education and mental health support in schools.

These events underscore the critical necessity for schools, parents, and authorities to collaborate closely to ensure student safety and emotional well-being.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The violent attack near a school is a sobering reminder of the damage wrought by unaddressed conflicts and retaliation among youth. The Logical Indian advocates fostering empathy, peaceful communication, and conflict resolution skills early in life.

Secure, supportive environments shaped by families, schools, and communities are vital to deter such tragedies. Beyond enforcement, root causes such as emotional vulnerabilities and social dynamics must be addressed compassionately.
