Heat waves cost lives across the world, more so in south east asia and Africa. India and Pakistan has faced the wrath of the heat wave year in and year out costing thousands of lives. Pakistan alone lost 2000 lives last year due to the scorching heat. People who lose their lives are among the working laborers and poor. Despite the large numbers of people who die in Pakistan due to the heat there has been largely any effort to take care of them. However, Pakistani students have decided to take the mantle on themselves and solve the issue.

The students are installing a fridge on Peshawar University road filled with beverages, cold water and fruits, things which labourers cannot afford much often. The students visit the well off section of the society and collect the materials to be placed in the fridge. The cost of the fridge was estimated at Rs 35,000.

The Logical Indian appreciates the efforts by the students to help the poor and needy in their time of need and hardships. It is pleasing to remember that volunteers in India have also done similar initiatives in the past and present. The student community when they step up they can do wonders in bringing about change in society. It is for this reason that students should be aware of the issues the society faces and we are very confident that students of India will step up to the challenge and bring about initiatives.
